Internet Research

Before their was internet and broadband, how did anyone do research? Where did recipes come from and how did anyone get anything done? It is easy to through your hands up in the air today and say that you don’t know. Before the internet research was done in libraries and with books and telephones on person to person calls. Before the internet people were not stupid and incapable of figuring anything out. We could find restaurants and  people didn’t drive around lost all the time.

All that said, it is a wonderful invention the ability to research so many topics at any given moment. Of course, one has to be cautious. Unlike publishing and distributing copies of books to libraries, anyone can pretty much put anything they want on the internet. You may argue that they were doing that in books before but the nature of information on the internet can be pretty questionable at times. So when doing research in a book or on the internet, check your sources. If you don’t know where the information is coming from get some corroboration from another website.

Researching where to go to a restaurants or what movie is playing has definitely made life a little easier, but don’t you miss the movie phone guy? Probably not, if you can get the same information in a matter of seconds instead of listening to a five minute list of movie information. Research has changed that is for sure, some school teachers are even allowing the use of websites for bibliographies now.
