To those people that live in major cities it may seem that broadband is already available everywhere you go. The idea of the network being expanded and the thought of government subsidizing it probably doesn’t mean much to you. But the question remains for many people all over whether broadband internet should be extended to reach every house in the United States.

It is a false statement to say that one cannot live without broadband internet. It is also just about useless to think that a dial up connection will get you anywhere. The first position may be that if broadband is important to you then you should live somewhere where it is available. Plenty of people living in an area where broadband is already available don’t use it. So, if broadband internet is something you require then move.

A second position is that nobody should be forced to go without access to the internet. Broadband is the only way to really get access and it should be available to everyone. If providers are not willing to go down every street and make it available then the government should push to make it happen. From this position broadband is required for a quality of life.

There is no perfect answer and for some people they could care less if broadband was available. some of them are in the city some of them are far from where broadband is available. For some people the cost of broadband is just too high and they are unwilling to pay the price for the service no matter how you “bundle” it with other services. In some areas broadband is available from only one provider. this creates kind of a monopoly effect and people either pay the price or get no service.
