The average American middle-class home now probably has broadband Internet. This has changed considerably the way that families spend time together and how people spend their free time after work. Some changes that have taken place are good, some maybe not so good, and people find different ways to make sure there is still time with each other.
Some of the good changes that have taken place are the availability of information both general and personal. Having access to all the information of the Internet can make discussions and conversations more meaningful. Instead of asking questions and figuring nobody knows the answer we can now look it up and carry the conversation further. And paying bills has never been so easy, with easy access to money and banking. You are also able to play various games like online bingo without ever having to leave your home.
Some of the not so good is that having constant access to the Internet and social media can suck the time right out of the evening. Before one realizes the night has gone and nobody has spent time together. Some of what the internet has brought to us is a waste of our time.
Some families reduce the time on the Internet to make sure there is time for other events and activities. Limiting Internet time just like limiting television time is a growing trend and it is important. Just being aware of where you time is going and what you are doing with your day is important for every individual. The internet and the computer are tools, they should not rule your life.
